Apocalipsis figurado de los Duques de
Saboya (Figurated Apocalypse of the Dukes of Savoy). Two volumes
of 26,5 x 41,5 cm. The first volume contains the facsimile
reproduction of the codex ms. Vit. I of the Library of El Escorial
(Madrid), dated of the 15th century, between 1428 and 1490,
of 49 sheets of vellum-parchment illuminated with 97 miniatures in
French Gothic art which cover more than one third of the box and
ornamented with complex margin borders and initial letters,
full-coloured on gold leaves. Full colour print, with gold and silver,
and, for the first time in Spain, with an additional engraving of a
metallic covering guilded while hot. Text from the Apocalypse and
Berengaudus' comments in French Gothic letter. Miniatures of Jean
Bapteur, Péronet Lamy and Jean Colombe. Binding in tablet covered with
Corinthian style Moroccan leather with golden ornamentation. The
second volume, 128 pages in two colours, red and black, contains a
study on the historic, iconographic and codex-related aspects of the
manuscript, along with the complete transcription of the text, its
translation into Spanish and a detailed study on each part of its
miniatures by Carmen Santiago Agut. Bound in cloth with leathered
spine. Both volumes are presented in a clothed box.
